ENGLISH BRIEFS:
NOF Stavanger and Environs Local Society (Stavanger og Omegn Lokallag) is a sub-branch of NOF Rogaland Society (NOF avd. Rogaland), a branch of the Norwegian Ornithological Society (Norsk Ornitologisk Forening). The Society provides an opportunity to meet regularly with other birders, as well as enjoy a fieldtrip in various parts of the Rogaland County.

The Society has 8 meetings a year, during spring and autumn. Meeting place is the Malmheim skole at Sandnes kommune. The meetings are always at 19.00, unless otherwise informed. There is usually a slide show at each meeting, together with information about projects, upcoming trips and so on. During the meetings we enjøy coffee and cakes and a roundtable chat of approximately half an hour. The meetings are usually 2-3 hours long, and those with a slight understanding of the "difficult" Norwegian tongue will be able to enjoy the slideshows more fully. There are always somebody who speaks fluent English, so don't worry about the coffee breaks! It is possible to be reminded of meetings through SMS. Contact secretary in such case.

The Society has approximately 2-6 fieldtrips a year. One trip is usually with overnight stay where people need to bring their own sleeping equipment as well as food etc (inhouse stay). Most daytrips average 4-7 hours in the field. Food and warm clothes are strongly recommended. Meeting places vary, so please contact somebody in the board for further directions. Some of the trips are organized by people fluent in English and with good knowledge of English bird names. It is possible to be reminded of field trips through SMS. Contact secretary in such case.

Everybody who is a member of NOF Rogaland Society is also a member of a Local Society within Rogaland. If you are interested in knowing more about us or our activities please contact us by phone or mail. Everybody is welcome to our meetings or fieldtrips, even though our members has first priority of course. We would like everybody, wether they participate in our activities or not, to join NOF Rogaland Society. The membership fee will not turn you broke, only NOK 200 per year for a person above 20 years, NOK 100 for a person below 20 years and a bargain price of NOK 30 for a support member. For that you also get the magnificent magazine of NOF Rogaland Society, "Falco", 4 times a year. The magazine alone is worth the effort of learning more Norwegian!
